No visit is complete without crossing the Murray River via the famous lift bridge  to explore the beatiful Murray Downs region.

Only minutes from Swan Hill over the historic lift bridge is Murray Downs. Formerly part of the Murray Downs Station settled in 1839, this area was once the largest river frontage property along the banks of the Murray River.

The original Murray Downs Homestead, built in 1870, is a gracious Victorian mansion furnished with some of its original fittings. While the Murray Downs Homestead is now a private residence and can no longer be accessed by the public, stunning views of the homestead can be seen from aboard a Murray River cruise.

Take a picturesque walk or bike ride to Murray Downs along the path, which winds its way along the environs of the Murray River for 5km.

Don't forget a visit to Murray Downs Golf and Country Club, long known as the best golf course on the Murray River.
